"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from the darkness for the prisoners..." Isaiah 61:1As the largest network of pregnancy centers in North America, Care Net is committed to expanding access to the life-saving services and support provided by our local centers and to reaching the hurting and broken with the hope of Jesus Christ. We work to accomplish this goal by promoting our network of centers and the Option Line call center, preparing our local centers to effectively serve their communities, and partnering with existing centers or like-minded ministries to plant new pregnancy centers in underserved areas. PROMOTINGCare Net promotes the work of our pregnancy centers using innovative advertising media such as the internet, cable television ad buys on BET and MTV, and billboard and bus shelter ads. These advertisements display Care Net's Option Line phone number and web address. The Option Line call center and website is staffed by trained phone consultants connecting women to their nearest pregnancy center. The good news is we are reaching women who are considered abortion-vulnerable or abortion-prone with alternatives to abortion. Currently, over 75% of the women contacting the Option Line call center and website are considering abortion. PREPARINGUsing cutting-edge research, on-site trainings, professional guidance, specialized resources, and many other forms of support, Care Net equips affiliated centers to serve clients in accordance with the highest standards and practices. Care Net provides on-site board and staff trainings using an experienced team of 15 national consultants. Our volunteer training manual, Serving with Care and Integrity, is used each year to equip thousands of new pregnancy center volunteers. Additionally, Care Net conducts legal audits and produces the Legal Care newsletter every other month. Care Net's "crown jewel" is our National Pregnancy Center Conference, an annual event which features nearly 150 workshops and many well-known keynote speakers. PLANTINGAbortions in our inner cities are at epidemic proportions. In many cities, abortions outnumber live births. Sadly, Hispanic and black women make up only 25% of the total female population, but account for 52% of abortions. Recognizing that over 70% of the nation's abortion clinics are located in minority neighborhoods, Care Net is strategically planting new pregnancy centers in these urban communities in order to provide needed abortion alternatives and pregnancy support services. Care Net also recognizes the need to offer pregnancy center services to women on college campuses. Therefore, Care Net has recently launched a new college campus program that aims to reach these underserved areas. Efforts to collaborate with other nationally recognized ministries, as well as with local ministries, are underway. Care Net hopes to plant 50 new pregnancy centers in underserved areas during each of the next five years. |
