Lent Week One: Praying for Repentance and Transformation

Posted by Roland C Warren on Feb 18, 2018 5:00:00 AM

We often refer to Paul's letter to the Ephesians when we talk about some of the great moral battles of our time: "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Eph. 6:12 NKJV)

This is certainly true when we talk about the prevalence of abortion in our society, where people scream for their "fundamental right" to decide whether an unborn child—an entirely innocent and wholly vulnerable life—lives or dies, when you and I know that the decision is solely God's domain.

That is why it must remain in the forefront of our thoughts: Care Net is not a ministry focused solely on saving lives. And it's not just about mothers and their children. Even when you add fathers to the "ministry" list, it's not complete.

No, this is about children, their parents, and the ABUNDANT LIFE that Christ brings when that family chooses to follow him with their whole hearts. . . together.

But as we minister to those considering abortion, it is critical that we remember in our efforts put the war where it belongs: in God's hands, where the victory has already been assured. To win the battles that we face daily, we need to hear clearly the instructions that He—the author of that victory—gives.

And, as Christ showed us during his time in the desert before He began His ministry, there is sometimes a required period of fasting and refocusing. And, for us sinful mortals, sincere repentence so that we might come into a deeper communion with Him and hear His voice more clearly.

Please join us this week as we pray for repentence for:

  • The times we, as a society and as individuals, have leaned on our own understanding of what is right, rather than diving headlong in to fervent prayer and scripture for God's leading.

  • When we have let our own desires take precedence over God's perfect timing and wisdom.

  • The times where our compassion has failed us because we have relied upon our own strength, rather than the limitless strength that comes of reliance upon God.

Can you take 30-seconds to sign a pledge against abortion and infanticide?

Some pro-choice activists now publicly defends infanticide. As believers in Jesus Christ, we know that every baby deserves protection and that abortion breaks God's heart.

Planned Parenthood and their allies promise horrific new abortion laws across America unless we act.

Say, “I stand with other believers against abortion and infanticide."
