Lent Week Six: Out of the Mouths of Babes

Posted by Roland C Warren on Mar 25, 2018 5:00:00 AM

But when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that He did, and the children crying out in the temple and saying, “Hosanna to the Son of David!” they were indignant and said to Him, “Do You hear what these are saying?” And Jesus said to them, “Yes. Have you never read,‘Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have perfected praise’?” Matthew 21:15-16  NKJV

The contagious and unbridled joy of a child dancing can drag a smile out of some of the most grumpy and generally unhappy people.

When Christ speaks to the scribes and priests here, he's referencing Psalm 8. "Out of the mouth of babes and nursing infants You have ordained strength, Because of Your enemies, That You may silence the enemy and the avenger."

Jesus made it abundantly clear that God cares a great deal about children. He talked about them and talked to them during His years of ministry on the earth, and He did both often.

But even before then, as we see in Jeremiah 1:5, God speaks and says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

God ordains everyone to a purpose: to praise and serve Him with the gifts He wove into their spirits. He builds the lasting legacy of His church with each generation that knows Him. A church that will not be defeated or overcome.

That is why it is so important to not only protect the lives of unborn children, but to minister to the mothers and fathers who are charged to protect and care for them, pointing them all to not just life... but the ABUNDANT LIFE that is waiting for them in Jesus Christ!

In this generation of tiny babies still in the womb, we have prophets and teachers, ministers and healers. We have leaders and laborers for God's harvest. Each one, created for a special and specific purpose. Each with a song of praise written on his or her heart to sing that was uniquely tuned for the Lord's pleasure.

Just like you. Just like me.

In the next generation, we find God's promises and hope. And we press on, fervently praying for God's miraculous transformation of our society... that the next generation would join us as we praise and serve the One Who Came to Save as one body.

Please join Care Net during Holy Week as we pray:

  • For the spread of the Gospel through this ministry, sharing it with those who may never have heard the Good News before their call to Pregnancy Decision Line or visit to one of our 1,100 affiliated pregnancy centers, as well as those who have heard it but have yet to make Jesus Christ their personal Lord and Savior.

  • For the next generation of our church families, still unborn, that God would protect them, that He would teach us how to be worthy reflections of His love for them and their parents, and that they would grow up to be a people who know Him personally and share about His role in their lives, unashamed.

  • For pastors and missionaries, that they would be strong voices for the dignity of children--born and those still in the womb--and that they would be inspired anew by the Easter season and the tireless, relentless, pursuing love of Jesus Christ who knew us and died for us... even before we were conceived.

May God's blessings be upon you and your family this Easter, and thank you so much for joining us in prayer. Your partnership means so much, and it is our privilege and honor to stand with you to advocate for life... and ABUNDANT LIFE.

Can you take 30-seconds to sign a pledge against abortion and infanticide?

Some pro-choice activists now publicly defends infanticide. As believers in Jesus Christ, we know that every baby deserves protection and that abortion breaks God's heart.

Planned Parenthood and their allies promise horrific new abortion laws across America unless we act.

Say, “I stand with other believers against abortion and infanticide."
