What is the most rewarding part of your job?

The knowing I'm making a difference in something I find to be most rewarding. If by my efforts I have made someones life richer with the joy of family, while giving a child the chance to have a life all their own--with all its joys, adventures, complexity, and multitude of experiences--then I have done something that is worth the doing.

What is your favorite Bible verse/book/chapter/section? Why?

Psalm 73 has proven a great comfort to me over the years. In this chapter, we see that life has moments and seasons of confusion--sometimes things seem to turn out contrary to what they should be. But in the end, we are reminded that no matter how crazy it gets--even if we don't see the reversal in our lifetime--God is still on the throne, and His plans cannot be thwarted.

Where are you from? Where did you grow up?

I was born in Southern California, but my Dad was in the Air Force; so we moved around quite a bit. I live in Northern Virginia, now.

What is your favorite book (other than the Bible)?

My top five include: Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, Moby Dick, Jurassic Park, Sun Tzu's Art of War, and Alice in Wonderland.

What is something people don't know about you?

I am currently working on a series of juvenile novels in the same vein as the works of C.S. Lewis and J.R.R. Tolkien.
