Every time a mom chooses life for her baby after calling our national hotline, it’s a big deal. That’s why Abigail’s* story is so exciting!

Abigail was a Christian who called herself pro-choice and believed abortion should always be available for some situations. But, when she became pregnant herself, she didn’t like the idea of having an abortion. Despite that, she couldn’t see how she could possibly take care of a baby, especially when her boyfriend didn’t see himself as fatherhood material.

You Helped Abigail Find Another Option

While searching on her phone, she found Pregnancy Decision Line, Care Net’s national hotline, and decided to give it a try. The coach she spoke to was kind. Abigail truly felt understood and that the woman on the other end of the call was on her side. 

After discussing why she was considering abortion, her coach asked Abigail about her faith. They had a long conversation, and talked about how God cared for her, and had a plan for her and her baby. The coach’s words resonated deeply. As Abigail dried her eyes, she shared, “I guess in my mind I am making this bigger than God.”

After that, the tone of the call changed.

Abigail was thrilled to learn that a pregnancy resource center was near her home, and decided to check it out. Visiting the pregnancy center was all it took to convince her that keeping her baby was the right choice! Everyone there was so kind and eager to help. The receptionist told her everything in the baby boutique was bought and paid for by donors who wanted to provide for her material needs. She cried just thinking about it. God was answering her prayers right here and right now through this pregnancy center and people she’d never met.

This young mom was even more surprised to learn the center actually partnered with her church through a program called Making Life Disciples and their next meeting was the next day! Abigail knew then that she’d have the support she needed—practically and spiritually. But what really made sure that she couldn’t ever go through with abortion was actually seeing her baby on the ultrasound monitor. By the time she walked out the door, Abigail was already thinking about baby names.
