Community Volunteer Opportunities

Care Net is able to successfully carry out its mission because of the support the network of pregnancy centers receives from more than 30,000 volunteers across the U.S. and Canada. If you can commit, and are interested in training to fulfill a position as a pregnancy peer counselor, we're always welcoming new volunteers.

Care Net Pregnancy Center affiliates follow the guidelines of "Serving with Care and Integrity" - a biblically-based curriculum that trains peer counselors to listen to clients without passing judgment, and offers a full range of parenting options to help clients make informed decisions.

Even if you can’t devote the time necessary for this training, there is always something you can do to help. Here’s an example of the range of skills needed and opportunities to get involved at your local pregnancy center:

Receptionists: Receptionists greet clients and assist with office work.

Special Events Team Members: Team members organize fundraisers, including: annual banquets and walks for life, t-shirt design and production, banner and hand-out pamphlet creation, organization of silent auction donations, and planning for other special events.

Office Support Staff: Office workers offer support by stuffing envelopes, preparing mailings, making phone calls, making deliveries to churches and more tasks as needed.

Church Liaisons: Volunteers are instrumental in connecting their churches to Care Net centers. Annual Sanctity of Life Sunday materials are available to raise awareness, as well as sermon notes, instructions on how to plan an annual donation/fundraiser, and opportunities to organize your church to pray for and support couples who find themselves unexpectedly pregnant and considering abortion. Some centers have special programs in place to connect women, who have decided to carry their pregnancies to term, with women’s church groups for emotional support and to meet young couples’ material needs. Perhaps your Bible study or local prayer group can support a couple once a quarter, or even one a month?

Ultrasound Technicians: Licensed medical doctors or ultrasound technicians are always welcome to support the medical teams of the Care Net affiliated centers that offer medical services. Local Knights of Columbus chapters and other community boosters have been instrumental in helping to supply pregnancy centers with modern equipment and training to help pregnant women see the life growing inside them, establish their due date, and hear their unborn child’s heartbeat.

Abstinence Educators: If you have a heart to inspire teens to make healthy relationship choices, you can be trained in abstinence training techniques or presentations. Your local center may hold “lock ins” at the local roller rink or mall, or other fun nights where such presentations are shared. You may even have your own ideas about how to gather a neighborhood group together to hear a presentation.

Public Relations: Throughout the year, your local Care Net center has opportunities to participate in Health Fairs and Community Booths in their own county or state. Public Relations Volunteers represent Care Net at these events by passing out information and telling others about the organization.

If your work or family schedule doesn't allow for time to help in person, you can always donate needed material items like these:

  • Diapers, all sizes
  • New onesies and outfits
  • Diaper wipes
  • Baby lotion, shampoo and wash
  • Gift cards for gas / Walmart / Target
  • Gift cards for maternity clothes

Please remember to call your local center first and see where the need is greatest. Many centers have “earn while you learn” programs that give young parents the opportunity to earn points toward purchasing new cribs and car seats by taking part in birthing and parenting classes that help develop parental skills. Click on the link below to find the center that is closest to you and give them a call. Please share how you found them, and may God bless your service!
